The guys at Why so Beerious, were looking for a place to take their hobby up a level. From the get go they wanted strong SEO foundation to build on.
The guys at Why so Beerious were originally using Squarespace for their website build. At first it was fun to set up, but they very quickly hit a wall, realising that Squarespace is fine for very basic websites, but not much else.
We had a chat, and I suggested the move to WordPress.
The Why so Beerious team wanted to be able to edit text around the website, but their focus was much more on strong SEO over managing their homepage. Luckily, we had a solution for that.
When new beers are added, they get given custom built categories for Brewer, Beer Type, Location and much more. This builds out a strong SEO foundation that can be easily built on.
So to make the homepage automatically update, we simply pull through and display beers in the related sections.
On the beer listings page, we make use of a post filter that we tied in with our Metabox fields and categories. This filters any selection, live and quickly due to AJAX.
And even better than this, when new beer types, brewers and anything else is added. It updates the filter automatically, allowing new beers to be found immediately.
