Lesley Lattimer Website Build
Lesley needed a complete overhaul of her website Lesley Lattimer, and we delivered, going above and beyond as we always do.
Lesley's old website was very outdated, not built responsively, and was very hard to maintain. Lesley was keen to pull the plug on it and move to something new. The previous website was built on WordPress, but it was badly implemented, and needed a complete restructure, and rebuild.
New Dynamic Service Pages
It was very important for Lesley that the new service pages were easy to create, edit and update. When she created new Services in the dashboards, the changes appear across the website with no technical skill needed.
We also took the opportunity to create a range of new Blocks for the new WordPress Block Editor. With the new Blocks it possible for her to create good looking, responsive and editable content, by simply dragging and dropping the Blocks.
Fresh Modern Design
We created a stunning new look for Lesley, which she loved.
Responsive and Future Proof
We use every trick we can to get website looking amazing on any device.
Adaptable Design
It was important to ensure that when Lesley updated her website, it worked on all breakpoints.
Fully Editable Content
4Alongside giving Lesley the ability to completely edit her Service content, we also gave her access to be able to edit her company details from one smart central location. If we use details elsewhere on the website, we use data from the same section. This makes it super simple for Lesley to manage and tweak.
Speed and Hosting
As with all our client websites, we put a huge emphasis on speed. We use state of the art frameworks, with smart, modern technology to build our websites.
We pair this with our preferred host, using litespeed servers, litespeed caching and for for an added kick, we use a CDN to serve assets. We use memcaching for optimum database performance.
And, best of all, since Lesley uses our hosting, everything is kept running super fast, and up to date. Security updates are done immediately, and we keep the PHP version on the latest release, for speed and security.
SEO Structure
Its important to have a strong technical SEO foundation to build on, and it was no different with Lesley Lattimer's build.
For all website's we build for customers, we allow them to update and edit whatever they want, but restrict the ability to edit important H1 tags, meta data and about else that can hurt rankings in Google. We also do a similar thing with image alt tags, and we either write relevant ones or use dynamic rules where needed on certain pages.
On the Service page templates, we use smart dynamic naming in headings, which makes these pages more distinct to Google.
Custom Blocks
With the Gutenberg blocks we created, some of the designs use heading tags for great SEO. We don't allow access to changing the heading type, since this will break the heading structure of the pages. So we only allow basic updating of the text.
Redesigned Link Structure
With the old website, there wasn't a link structure set up, but it wasn't relevant to Lesley's customers or Google. So we gave all service pages a new link base of 'service', which is much better than the old 'portfolio-type' it was set with.
To ensure traffic would still get to the new service pages after the new URL structure was created, we added redirects to ensure customers visited the old pages were redirected to the new ones. We also requested a removal of 17 old page links from Google, to keep our link juice in the right areas of the website.
There are so many small tweaks we use behind the scenes to ensure great SEO.
